chalet OS bad download
The installer doesn't work from USB drive for the latest version. I didn't try from DVD yet.
Had to try 3 times even before the installer finished without errors!
Even than, startup screen doesn't look anywhere close to liveCD boot. For example panel is on the top, all icons are different.
Even when boot from liveCD style changer doesn't work properly.

Re: chalet OS bad download
Is this the latest version from the website? when did you download it? chalet os 16.04.1 was definitely like that. Never heard any reports of chalet os 16.04.2 doing that though.
Re: chalet OS bad download
Downloaded yesterday, may be 2 days ago.
File named chaletos-16042-amd64.iso

Re: chalet OS bad download
hit the Prt sc button. on chalet os you can select "upload to imgur". Then select all in box "BBcode for forums" and copy. Then paste here and it will convert to an image.
Alternatively you can select "copy to clipboard" then paste on http://snag.gy and paste the link here.

Re: chalet OS bad download
um that is not chaletos. That is xubuntu.
Possibly the xfce DE reset so try this. Logout. On the login screen there will either be an "XF" or a mouse logo. Try changing it to the other one. If that doesnt work then I'll have to guess you used the wrong ISO which is extremely weird.

Re: chalet OS bad download
I did logout and on login screen chosen XFE session (by default it was Xubuntu session), after login it looks the same. I am sure iso is correct, there was Chalet OS background picture after 1st start. I just applied style change. Also it shows Chalet OS logo during boot.
In boot menu it also says ChaletOS.
Anybody tried installing this iso from flash?

Re: chalet OS bad download
that's wierd... because that is the XFCE DE. Or maybe it was some theme change you did? I may be wrong. Show me a picture of the menu.
Re: chalet OS bad download
From which menu?
yes, I already used style changer, and moved panel to the bottom but thats all.

I'm talking about equivalent to windows start menu

Re: chalet OS bad download
Well, there's a clear issue when installing from USB drive. It took me 3 times trying different ways of installation (and using different soft to write ISO to flash drive). First 2 times it either shows some error or hang up during "creating user"

Re: chalet OS bad download
Try recreating installation media and re-installing. If you use DVD do it at a slower speed. If you are using flash drive I recommend using dd in terminal on linux
- Code:
dd if=filename.iso of=/dev/sdx
Re: chalet OS bad download
I already tried rufus_usb_installer-2.10p from windows (this was for the last time when it actually installed). Don't feel like trying it again for nothing again.
BTW Ubuntu 16.04 LTS installed the same way from the 1st time without any issue on the same computer.

Re: chalet OS bad download
As weve never had such complaints from the ISO before I am guessing it is a write failure.
You could also try unetbootin

Re: chalet OS bad download
How many people tried to install it from USB?
How many of those will report it here?
I'm thinking myself just to try another linux distribution.

Re: chalet OS bad download
The only problem I encountered installing ChaletOS 16.04.2 using a DVD disk, was when I choose the "encrypt the home directory" option during installation. This always resulted in a hang up during the "creating user" part of the installation.
Perhaps simply leaving this option unchecked will resolve your issue, which seems to be an known issue even with other ubuntu (based) installations.

DarkHawk, I did use "encrypt the home directory" option at least once, thanks.

I wonder how can you claim this, since nobody else confirmed that yet.
Which soft did you use to put ISO image on USB drive?
Was it from linux or windows?
