(SOLVED ) Am I Loosing Out ?
Hi
Am I at a disadvantage by using 16.04.1 as opposed to 16.04.2 .
I thought I downloaded 16.04.2 iso file, but it appears that I have got 16.04.1.
I used the ChaletOS site ticked on 32bit iso which was the one I wanted, was then directed to SourceForge and clicked the only download available which was ( 16.04 32bit iso ) thats how it was displayed not .1 or .2 .
What I am using is-- Distro16.04.1 LTS
Kernel Linux 4.4.0-59 generic ( i686 )
THANK YOU.17:02:30

Re: (SOLVED ) Am I Loosing Out ?
yes, 16.04.1 was a failure, it was more of a test then a release. try download now, you should get 16.04.2

RE AM I LOOSING OUT ?
Hi.
The more I compare my O.S. with the details / videos etc in the Start Point app and with videos on ChaletOS site plus You Tube videos etc, they appear to be the same.
details in Start Point are :- Version 16.04.1 LTS Xenial Xerus.
Description UBUNTU 16.04.1 LTS.
These details match mine exactly and the overall look and Icon sets are the same.
I have been reading searches on the internet about the 16.04 problems back in early 2016, at that time ChaletOS was NOT based on UBUNTU 16.04.1 because it had not been released yet so it may have been based on an earlier UBUNTU release.
AT this moment in time i have not encountered any hickups or problems and it's running really smoothly ( may that continue ) so I am going to stick with what I have installed and see how things progress.
I will keep you up to date if there are any changes.

go to installation, in drive partitioning select advanced options, then select each partition and double click to set mount point. on a default setup you would double click the large partition and set mount point as "/" and the swap-formatted partition as the swap partition.
RE- AM I LOOSING OUT?
Hi James
Decided to reinstall ChaletOS as you advised because you said 16.04.1 was a failure and only used for testing.
I downloaded iso file from ChaletOS site > SourceForge link burned iso to disc and reinstalled ,did full update etc and set up as required all went well and everything is O.K. and running fine.
There is one anomaly though I now have 16.04.1 LTS Xenial Xerus the same version that I uninstalled , not 16.04.2. as you had expected. It`s not a problem because it`s very stable and I am happy to stay with it.
It is probably much better for newbies ( like me) to have the LTS version while learning about Linux, and not having to worry about updating to the latest version all the time.
It`s got to be a better option I think.
16.04.2 ? a mystery.

Re: (SOLVED ) Am I Loosing Out ?
ChaletOS 16.04.2 IS NOT Ubuntu 16.04.2. I think it comes based on .1, but that can be upgraded easily after installation. sudo apt upgrade AFTER a sudo apt update should do it.
Re: (SOLVED ) Am I Loosing Out ?
Hi James. If I upgrade would I loose LTS status
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: (SOLVED ) Am I Loosing Out ?
hello oxo42
when machine here had 16.04.1 installed,, it upgraded to 16.04.2 with regular updates on 09-27-2016. now i have the [chaletos].iso ... on the boot menu it asks do wish to install 16.04.2 directly or trial 16.04.2 live without installing? how you missed 16.04.2 is not problematic. just grab the latest .iso every time for fresh install.

me too. the only way i know here is .2 is because i know what [16042] iso was downloaded, it says 16.04.2 on the boot screen. on the previous install that i watched update past September I know it upgraded from .1 to .2.
You Are Correct that nothing within system information shows anything other than 16.04.1 .
when you are looking... open StartPoint from application menu will show the .1
It does here in mine too. says .1
open a terminal, type this: cat /etc/issue .or. cat /etc/lsb-release
and it indicates .1
oh well. Dits could probably tell if he could see some programs opened.
how are you doing with the system? install screenfetch and put up a desktop capture with it showing, eh! enjoy.

Re: (SOLVED ) Am I Loosing Out ?
Hi Idbri
If its normal not to be seen on the system then that is O.K.
I just wanted confirmation that I had 16.04.2 installed , so I will now assume that I have.
Many Thanks.
