I just installed 16.04.2 and went to install htop through the command line and received this error message. N: Ignoring file '50unattended-upgrades.ucf-dist' in directory '/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/' as it has an invalid filename extension.

I went to that file and this is what is listed while installing htop.

I also keep having a pop-up window about ttf-mscodefonts-installer. It tells me that there was an issue while trying to update the fonts. It tells me that it will keep try or I can try to run it now. Nothing happens with this same result. Don't now if it has to do with the Eula agreement and the error message. Thanks in advance for any help. =-)

Edit: Another issue that has come up. Seems that 16.04.2 is not installed even though I download the 16.04.2 iso. Here is the code with information.

Code:
uge@dell-OptiPlex-360:~$ lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
Release: 16.04
Codename: xenial
euge@dell-OptiPlex-360:~$ sudo apt upgrade
[sudo] password for euge:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
The following packages have been kept back:
  conky-all
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
N: Ignoring file '50unattended-upgrades.ucf-dist' in directory '/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/' as it has an invalid filename extension

Don't know what to do. Looks like 16.04.1 is running even though I installed 16.04.2 iso.

have you tried running

Code:
sudo apt update

That doesn't update your software as does sudo apt upgrade, that updates your apt software repositories.

Yes just tried it. I get that same error message. I even went into software and updates to find the nearest repo to me. It is set on http:mirror.steadfast.net/ubuntu.

I've installed htop on chalet 16.04.2 b4, it must be something recent. be sure to do sudo apt update though and see if that works.

Just did it again. Still the same thing. Did you see anything wrong in the codes I posted. It just keeps reading N: Ignoring file '50unattended-upgrades.ucf-dist' in directory '/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/' as it has an invalid filename extension.

your only option then, because there is an error with Ubuntu's official repositories there, is to download htop from their site.

I download the 16.04.2 version from SourceForge Pilot mirror. My machine is running version 16.04.1. I ran lsb_release -a and it reads version 16.04.1

to upgrade:

1. boot from the 16.04.2 iso
2. start setup
3. at partition selection, select all existing partitions and set the mount points as they currently are, but do not check "format this partition"
4. complete setup. it will only replace necessary files.

b4 doing this it is good to back up data in case you make a mistake while partitioning.
