Need help with sound/microphone

Hi I have ChaletOS 16.04 and I am trying to set up audacity so I can record using a Blue Yeti Mic. Does anyone know what the settings should be I try many combinations of settings but it seems the combinations could be endless. Please let me know if you can thanks!

chalet os can be so frustrating with sound settings. I will admit. In pulse audio controller make sure under "configuration" tab the lower one says "analog stereo DUPLEX" for the analog audio. Digital can be just about anything. in "input devices" hit the green check mark beside "built in analog stereo" to make it your device. Also underneath all of those devices under "input devices" is scales graphing input noise. Try talking and if any of those scales go up and down then you know that 1: that is the one that must be set as default, and 2. that is the only setting that needs to be changed (other than mic volume maybe). Under "recording" make sure the application recording audio is enabled.

Try all that. If that does not work post screenshots of all the tabs to https://snag.gy by hitting print screen and selecting "copy to clipboard. Simply paste into snag.gy and you will get a link. I will then evaluate those screenshots and suggest improvements.

sorry for my late reply. what port options do you have in https://snag.gy/zV2Jue.jpg? it says that it is unplugged

You mean USB ports? I have the mic plugged into the front USB..

no, in https://snag.gy/zV2Jue.jpg you had a drop down menu with the word "port" to the left. currently set at "front microphone (unplugged)"

It just says front, rear, line in. They all have unplugged next to them.

that's wierd... try all 3 I guess.

I did nothing changes on the input one it shuts off completely.. I think ChaletOS has real problems with the audio. Such a shame.. I wanted it to work.

Just wanted to say to make sure you are plugged in to the correct jack on your laptop/pc, I noticed your line-out is plugged in and thought maybe you are connected wrong. it could be that your speakers/headphones are plugged into line out, but worth a check.

again sorry for the delay. I have had a lot of similar problems. maybe try setting defaults to hdmi, other than that I hardly know what to do
