Re: [ solved ] sdxc card error
I think the problem might be
I loaded my 64Gb sandisc cruzer and it is type vfat and had no problems, I would suggest reformatting to a non proprietary format using gparted. And don't worry it will still be readable in windows back-up your data first though!exFAT (Extended File Allocation Table) is a Microsoft file system optimized for flash drives. It is proprietary and Microsoft owns patents on several elements of its design.

Re: [ solved ] sdxc card error
no, I can't do that. I havent backed up the data on that card and it's a camera card and will probably be reformated by my camera. I do NOT want to do that because then my pictures wont be on my camera and I want them there too for viewing. Now when I had zorin OS I had same error and I tried smaller card and still same error. There was some command I was told to run that fixed it. I think it may have been an apt-get. I want to be able to use this 64GB card as it is.
Re: [ solved ] sdxc card error
If this has been a problem before it could be a good enough reason to change the format (if the camera would support it) I have a couple of digital cameras and they will accept vfat cards without issue, if you have another large card it might be worth testing it to see if the camera is happy to use a non proprietary format, my guess is that it would function the same, but as I do not have a large sd card I cannot test.
If you want to stick with MsFormat then you could try
If you want to stick with MsFormat then you could try
- Code:
sudo apt-get install exfat-fuse exfat-utils

Re: [ solved ] sdxc card error
thanks a lot, that worked! I knew there was some apt-get command to do that but I forgot what it is. I'll write that down! I appreciate it!
Re: [ solved ] sdxc card error
You're welcome, remember though this is a workaround not a fix, if you want to avoid future issues you really should look at using a different format. But each to their own and if you're happy then it is not an issue

Re: [ solved ] sdxc card error
I dont think it is a fix if I have to delete all the data on my camera card when I have not downloaded it and backed it up cuz i CANT so I will lose some valuable photos and then I will not be able to bring pictures from Mount Monadnock, total lunar eclipse, and others with me in that camera. I don't want that!
Re: [ solved ] sdxc card error
Sorry I didn't recommend you delete anything, back it up and reformat and then restore pictures to card and everything will work on all distro's without having to install extra software, but like I said if you are happy with it then it isn't an issue.

how would I back it up? couldn't mount
But I do want to be able to handle exfat disks. This may not be the only card I'll insert
Re: [ solved ] sdxc card error
5 posts back you could mount your SD card, then it is a matter of doing as I suggested but as you are happy with your current setup I shall offer no further advice.

I hope I didn't offend you, I'm sorry if I did. Was there a miscommunication?

Not at all, just closing the thread so to speak.
