Can Windows 10 spy on your dual boot?

The other day, i re-installed ChaletOS as dual boot with Windows 10.
Initial boot in Windows 10 the next day showed Windows doing some work as if it were updating (there were no updates on the horizon for the past week or more) and then it asked to log out or else lose data.
This was really weird 'cause it never happened before on any similar tryout with Linux.

Who knows what Microsoft is up to.
