Display resolution/size is odd
I use VMWare 12. After I installed chaletos and open-vm-tools I could not get screen to work full-screen. I checked the resolution settings available and noticed there is NO 1920 x 1080 resolution. They apparently skipped over that one, which must be the most common screen resolution out there.
Where is 1920x1080? Weird.

Have you tried virtualbox? that may work better. it is free and for Windows, Mac, Linux, BSD, and Solaris.
Re: Display resolution/size is odd
Yes, I've used VirtualBox many times. But that doesn't effect a distribution that doesn't include a resolution as popular as 1920x1080. That's just weird.

Re: Display resolution/size is odd
Chalet OS like any other automatically selects resolutions compatible with your display. With the Virtualbox guest additions the guest additions over-ride your display settings.

Well, I just use Gnome-Boxes myself...much easier and more simple than any other virtualization software.
I did run across this article...might have to install xrandr, and I don't know if it will help since it was based on Ubuntu 14.04.

Re: Display resolution/size is odd
Thanks for the tip. I'll try that, or better yet just scrap ChaletOS as clearly it is not ready for prime time yet. It concerns me that people new to Linux might try ChaletOS due to claimed similar to Windows, then they have problems and turn against linux completely.
Your advice is far superior to the troll whose answer to all problems is "use VirtualBox". When someone is a heavy user of VMware, switching to VirtualBox makes no sense.
The other weird thing I found is after installing both forms of VM tools (VMware legacy and open-vm-tools) the system could not do copy+paste from another vm session.
It is insane to leave out 1920x1080, the most popular resolution, yet include some real oddball resolutions I've never seen before. This distro would concern me about security.
Update: It worked! Thanks for the tip!

Re: Display resolution/size is odd
@nogero the resolutions available are automatically selected for what your display supports. You can not blame chalet OS for odd resolutions.

I'm glad it worked since I wasn't sure if it would or not.
As for James, I have the utmost respect for him and what he does here. He pretty much is single-handedly answering people's questions here on the forum. That's a rather large task for someone to undertake. So, I don't think he's a troll at all...he's trying to help others.
