Google Chrome AND not Firefox?

I am new, user (*retired old guy) Not a good keybd'r and would like to use Chrome browser et all if possible without Firefox at all.
I got this ChaletOS going and I like it because last week my main hard drive failed with my windows 7 pro OS INCLUDED!
of course being old and forget-full, no rescue disks or way to get it back on.
I learned SOME basic MS-DOS about time I got my first VIC 20 (10 minute tape drive). Prefer to "point and click" .

If your hard drive failed, you will need a second computer to create a gparted rescue disk. There you can attempt a data rescue. Also tape drive backup need driver installs, better go for external hard drives, or if you dont have a lot of data then a flash drive. so I'll ask do you have another computer? if so I will be glad to help you. On another computer download gparted live ISO from https://sourceforge.net/projects/gparted/files/gparted-live-stable/0.26.1-5/gparted-live-0.26.1-5-i686.iso/download?use_mirror=pilotfiber
Then burn the iso to a disk and boot from it. chose United States English keymap. When you finally get to terminal run "startx". Once it boots and opens gparted, go to your Hard drive partition. then go to device/attempt data rescue. Just let me know if any of this you have any trouble with.

Thanks James, LOL I had the VIC 20 about 1981, so Tapes long gone! The Hard drive was totaled, no recovery there.
I had 2nd hd in same machine so moved it to be my main drive and got a USB Live with GPARTED, and ChaletOS installed and working enough to join this forum and post these notes.
What I would like is a way to use Chrome browser and apts. But not inside of firefox.
Next target is to figure a way to join a windows local vpn, 2 windows laptops 1 win 10, 2nd win 7 home, and ipad2 tablet, wired printer and a wireless printer too.

I found way to make change,
1. used Firefox to go to google chrome page and got a download and installed chromium for Ubuntu.
2. un-pined Firefox from panel
3. set preferences to Google Browser
4. Re-booted
5. checked google as a Favorites

not exactly sure what you were wanting. Chromium is not as good as google chrome but if you want chromium that's fine.
