Does'nt find LAN device Empty Does'nt find LAN device

Post by Cyclepiet Tue Jan 30, 2018 2:50 am

I installed ChaletOS 16.04.3 (64b) on a Medion modell: PC MT 8, Type: MED MT 380, CPU: Intel Pentium D (dual core), mem.: 2GB,
My problem is the system does'nt find a LAN interface (it realy exist 1Gb), i tried also another 100Mb LAN-card, the same result, but it finds only the Wireless one, which works fine, but i have to use the wired one?

On an old DELL laptop both works fine.

Before, W7 was on it and no problem at all, as i earlier mentioned i put another lan-card in the pc but also this one was not recognised by ChaletOS. What i can do is put another platform on it and look if this also does'nt recognise the card, but that takes one hour i think?

what you could do is put an arch live disk in, no need to install. arch iso images are really small and they are text-only. then just type "ip link"

live@zorin-os:~$ ip link
1: lo: mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN mode DEFAULT group default
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00

link/ether 00:12:bf:63:72:24 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff
live@zorin-os:~$

Tried it also with a 32b Antix MX14, it gaves the same answer as above, so it looks a hardware failure?
but on the other hand why also whith another LAN-card, i will try with a second LAN-card if Zorin gives the same result, what do you think?

that's very puzzling that 2 systems based on ubuntu with the same network managers are giving you 2 different results

Dear James, it looks if there is some more defect, so i put the HDD's and power-supply into another Medion somewhat likewise PC as the other one and now it looks it works.
Thank you for helping me, tomorrow i go further on if this system works fine, good night, Piet.
