Thunar slow on large folder Empty Thunar slow on large folder

My father in law has a folder with 9000+ files in it and Thunar and ChaletOS just comes to a crawl when he navigates there. Is there a way to speed up Thunar or switch to something faster as the default file browser for the OS and Desktop?

nautilus may be a bit faster
