Duplicated sources

Hi everyone,,
I hope everyone is fine,
I'm having a problem every time I run sudo apt-get update the shell give me some hints that I' having a duplicated sources fo amd64 and i386 I'm running amd64 this problem started wih vivaldi a browser but now I'm having lots of duplicated sources a friend gives me some guide lines to open sources list and delete the lines which contain i386 but I could not find any, could anyone help me to fix this error please.

Hi Momen-abdallah. It sounds as though you haven't deleted any of your sources yet? I would suggest that instead of completely deleting a source, just put a hashtag (#) to the left side of any source you don't want to use. That way, you won't accidentally lose a source that you might actually need. With the # next to a source, apt will simply ignore it.
Also, I could be wrong, but I don't think you'll see anything in your sources that actually designates an i386 source. In other words, I don't think you'll see "i386" as part of the source in the list.
There are two options that I'm aware of...
1. If you don't mind, can you copy your sources.list and paste it here so that we can see your sources?
Also, look at the sources.list.d file. There are other sources listed there. In fact, there are already extra sources there when you first install Chalet. The easiest thing to do would be to open the sources.list.d file, and take a screenshot of what's there...then upload the screenshot of that. That way, I can see your actual sources in your sources.list when you copy and paste it, and I can see the name of your sources in the sources.list.d file.
I only ask that so that I can compare your sources with the sources that come with ChaletOS when it's first installed. That would help narrow down the offending sources.
2. The second option is to add the i386 architecture to your system. All that does is allow you to run i386 programs/software on a 64 bit system. I would think that would also solve your problem, but I can't guarantee it will.
It won't hurt anything to add the i386 architecture, so if you want to add it to see if it will fix the problem, open your terminal and enter the following commands one at a time...
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo apt-get update
If you decide to paste your sources here on the forum, it might be tomorrow before I can check back to compare them.

I do put the hashtag before every line that is not contains it, and guess what my long list of the duplicated sources has been reduced to only two lines, just like before, one only problem in the sources list now and here is what it shows
W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://repo.vivaldi.com/archive/deb/ stable/main amd64 Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/repo.vivaldi.com_archive_deb_dists_stable_main_binary-amd64_Packages)

I've tried to delete that one in i386 form put it seems that is not possible, however my account user has the administrator privilege !
One last thing I've tried to run the command which for adding i386 architecture but nothing happen

Glad to help.
Since nothing happened when you tried to add the i386 architecture, I would assume that the developer of ChaletOS has it included by default. I only use 32 bit, so I downloaded the 64 bit version and ran it in a virtual machine to check...and it was already included. If you want to see if your system already has it, enter the following command in the terminal.
dpkg --print-foreign-architectures
If i386 is already on your system, it will show i386 below that command after you hit Enter.
When you say that you put # next to every line, I hope you only meant that you put the # next to the repos that you don't want to use? Otherwise, you won't get any updates from any of your sources. I'll post the outputs of the default 64 bit sources.list so that you can compare, but first, there's one other way that you can try to get rid of that Vivaldi source.
1. Open the Synaptic Package Manager.
2. When it opens, click Settings located on the top toolbar.
3. In the drop-down list, click on Repositories.
4. A window will pop up. If you see the Vivaldi repository in that list, remove the checkmark next to it. That will disable it.
5. If you want to completely remove the repository, you can click on it to highlight it, then click the Delete button in the lower left.
6. After you've removed the checkmark or deleted the repository, click Ok in the lower right.
7. Another window will pop up. Click Reload.
Clicking Reload is basically the same as running sudo apt-get update, but you can still try to run that command in the terminal to see if you still get the sources error.
Now...let's make sure that you haven't accidentally disabled any needed repositories by putting a # next to them. Look through the list below to make sure you don't have a # next to any lines that don't have a # next to them. First, I'll copy and paste the default repositories from the sources.list
Let's do this the old-fashioned way...
1. Open your terminal, and enter the following command...
sudo thunar
2. That will open the Thunar file manager as root. Now click on File System on the left.
3. Open the etc file.
4. Open the apt file.
5. Open the sources.list
6. Leave Thunar open for later...
Here's the default list...note the lines that don't have a #.

Now, I'll post a screen shot of the repositories contained in the sources.list.d file. Go back to Thunar, and click on the sources.list.d file. Look it over to see how yours compares. If you see the Vivaldi source listed in yours, right click on it and delete it.

thank you so much bro, my problem has been handled now, it would not be covered without the help of yours, and here what I've done
after I did unmarked the vivaldi check box and reload, i went to terminal and run sudo apt-get update and it shows that I have the same duplicated sources as you might noticed my soucres list it contains duplicated line so, I copy users and paste it in mine, and after run update it works finally no duplicated error again, but i have q question, why this happened?

I did notice the duplicates, but I don't know why or how that could have happened. I've never experienced that before.
I'm glad everything is back to normal now, and hopefully that solved your problem.
I would still want to make sure the Vivaldi source is gone if it were me...wouldn't want it to possibly cause problems again for some reason. So, I would check with the Synaptic method again. I would also run the following command in the terminal just to see if it was in the sources.list.d file.
sudo thunar /etc/apt/sources.list.d
If Vivaldi is there, I'd delete it.
