Screensaver-SOLVED
How do I activate a screensaver (I prefer a blank screen). Now the desktop stays on.

Re: Screensaver-SOLVED
Hi davec51, and welcome to ChaletOS!
Click on your main menu, and type screensaver in the search bar.
When it appears in the menu, click on it.
The Screensaver window will open, and you can make any adjustments you like; such as, when the screensaver starts, lock the screen, etc...
Next to Mode, you can choose for it to have a blank screen only.
Hope that helps!

Re: Screensaver-SOLVED
thanks for replying. When I type "screensaver" into the menu box I get only "screenshot" as an option. Somehow my copy of Chaletos doesn't seem to have screensaver capability. Is this possible, and where can I get the screensaver program?

Re: Screensaver-SOLVED
Hmmm...that's strange that you don't have it. I'm not sure, but perhaps you have an older version of ChaletOS...
No problem though...
You can quickly and easily install it in several ways...
If you're new to Linux, you may find it easier to install it with the Ubuntu Software Center (found in the Settings category of the main menu).
Open the Ubuntu Software Center, and in the search box type Automatic screensaver for X. It should pull up automatically. When it appears, click on it, and click on Install.
If you'd like to install it using the Terminal...
Open your terminal and enter the following command (you can copy and paste this if you wish)...
sudo apt-get install xscreensaver
After entering the command, hit Enter on your keyboard.
Enter your password (you won't see your password being typed out).
Hit Enter on your keyboard after entering your password.
If it tells you something like "a certain amount of disk space will be used...do you want to continue"...enter Y for yes and hit Enter.
Hope that helps!

Re: Screensaver-SOLVED
Thanks again, BroDan. I used apt-get and the installation was quick, simple, and effective. I wonder why my copy of ChaletOS didn't have it; I think I downloaded the latest iso.

Re: Screensaver-SOLVED
I'm glad it worked well for you.
As to why you didn't have it already...I'm not sure, unless you did get an older version somehow. Regardless, you should be good with your version until 2019.
