I Hope chaletOS is the one!

I found it searching youtube trying to get ubuntu to look more like windows. I like ubuntu, but Im not a coder by any means and even just trying to update the theme is giving me issues.

More to my story. I bought a laptop from a guy I work with. Only 150 bucks. Its really a Piece of shit. Acer Aspire V5-122-0408. dual core 1ghz processor, 4gb ddr3 and 500gb HDD.
It was taking forever to launch google chrome 20 seconds! So I installed ubuntu and wiped the drive completely. Now chrome starts in 7 seconds. Im happy with that. But I have a quest now.. a quest to find an OS that looks similar to windows 7 and does everything windows can do but FREE!

My experiences so far. the Universal USB installer did not let me create the bootable disk in windows. I had to actually make the disk in ubuntu using that help page.

Im in the installation process as we speak and too often have I felt that things are just stopping mid install. grey box stars installation. the loading blue bar seamed odd but patience is winning over to an actual install. Several black screens that finally show that things are installing correctly. Hmm... Now this is the longest black screen I have had. Moved the mouse and the small blue box came back up. says -configuring hardware..

Im gonna let this finish then Ill write more.

Finally installed and on reboot it looked like it was going to re-install. I let the timer run down and it default selected ubuntu. just failed to download the languange support. Im liking it so far.

customizing is so fun!!

It is taking way too long to install google chrome.. I think i might just go to bed.

chrome installed.. steam installed fast. I could never get this far with ubuntu

This is what I want!! Now only if I could get arma2 and arma3 to play on linux.

And now the road block.

There are so few games supported on linux it makes this whole effort worthless.

I really like how there was an actual Icon on the desktop that I could edit its properties to get it in incognito mode. Just like windows.

OMG!! This is AWESOME!!!

I just found out that the bottom panel where all the icons are you can edit to have dissapear unless you mouse over it.

Mouse in the panel, right click, panel, panel preferences, appearance.. then change neter opacity to 100 and leave at 0.

My story is coming to an end...

I really like this OS, but I was just given some insight on how the key for the windows on my laptop is embedded still on the hard drive of the laptop and how all I need to do is install 8 back on it and then get the upgrade for 10. sure enough.. 8 installed and the key is activated im good to go.
