[ solved ] Fast startup disabled in Windows 10 but still no go
It's the third reboot and ChaletOS still cannot access Windows files even with fast start up disabled.
Any other options?

please provide a screenshot of the error. Also open gparted and give a screenshot of /dev/sda. If you dont have gparted get it from the software repositories.

Screenshot:
Humm, think found booboo, don't usually install on extended but straight to ext4 as /
Don't know how this happened.
Is that the mistake?

boot to windows, hit win + r and type "cmd.exe" to load command prompt. Then run:
Windows 2000/XP: shutdown.exe -f -t 0
Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 9 alpha, or 10: shutdown.exe /f /t 0
then try to get it to work
If that works, paste the command into notepad and save it as a .bat on your desktop for convenience.

@James,
Had an error message to say it didn't recognized command (2nd line for Win 10), tried 1st which seemed to but nothing has changed in ChaletOS.
Maybe a clean install?

if shutdown.exe /f /t 0 doesnt work do shutdown.exe -f -t 0
maybe different editions do it differently

Tried both James and it's a no go.
Took Enchantement Linux (32bit Xubuntu based) out for a stroll and same problem there too.
Maybe Windows 10 updates have blocked that from happening?

Re: [ solved ] Fast startup disabled in Windows 10 but still no go
that is wierd!!!! I have no clue why that would happen. :\
Re: [ solved ] Fast startup disabled in Windows 10 but still no go
windows 10 updates dont remind me I wouldnt even use win 10 lol stability issues!
It would be easy to put windows 7 or 8.1 on and I have a tool that will activate any win 7/8.1 copy for free. Or even Vista. I have a vista sp2 version (later version of vista) that is actually really stable. Vista is nice because it doesnt consume as much ram as 7/8.1

Re: [ solved ] Fast startup disabled in Windows 10 but still no go
Wow! Think that's the first time i've ever heard a compliment in favor of Vista!
Btw, did powercfg -h off to disable hybernation mode and it worked!
Don't recall having turned it back on before.
So, going back to ChaletOS should be good.
Enchantement doesn't seem to be able to bookmark the folders in Windows.
It's annoying.

Re: [ solved ] Fast startup disabled in Windows 10 but still no go
as far as I know shutdown.exe /f /t o is the only thing that works right for a full complete shutdown but who knows. I bet chaletOS just doesnt like win 10 as it is a total j*rk to deal with.
Re: [ solved ] Fast startup disabled in Windows 10 but still no go
seriously though, vista ultimate sp2 you will find to be really good. one thing about it though, when you go to install the activator, you need .net framework version 4 which needs internet while installing, should do it right away b4 trial expires, then you can activate it. .net framework 4 is free from Microsoft.
Re: [ solved ] Fast startup disabled in Windows 10 but still no go
although let me take some of that back I think .net framework has both a networked installer and a larger standalone installer for offline computers. my bad.
Re: [ solved ] Fast startup disabled in Windows 10 but still no go
Files in Windows are now viewable in ChaletOS and "bookmarks" are saved after reboot.

Indeed!
Threads like these become a reminder to keep all your angles covered.
It was also good occasion to learn about other options such as shutdown.exe /f /t 0 or shutdown.exe -f -t 0
Not to forget how "good" Vista was (is)!
